As highlighted at the event, the Municipality of Debrecen pays special attention to ensuring that children living here can access child welfare services appropriate to their age.
A decree restricting the use of smart devices in schools took effect in September 2024. What impact will this have on children? How will they experience the decision? What are teachers’ experiences?
These were also discussed at the meeting on the detection and signalling system. Child protection was a prominent topic in the programme, and experts shared their experiences and evaluated the results achieved.
“The first aspect is to get to know the family and the child in question, or an older person, because the signal applies to children and the elderly. If the problem has been identified, Debrecen, as a caring city, can provide many services and try to offer the most appropriate ones. If there is a serious threat, we take the appropriate steps,” the Head of the Family and Child Welfare Centre, Ibolya Aurélia Orosz, highlighted.
The Family and Child Welfare Centre contacted almost 3,500 families last year, about 6,000 children. At the professional meeting, László Papp emphasised that protecting children is vital for every community. The Mayor added that the local government pays special attention to ensuring that children living here can access child welfare benefits and services appropriate to their age. “In Debrecen, the cooperation between the Family and Child Welfare Centre staff and the actors of the signalling system working in the health, public education, police, court, or other authority areas is exemplary,” László Papp said.
The professionals ask that anyone who senses any related problems report them to the Family and Child Welfare Centre.
