
Debrecen’s cultural and public institutions, local history researchers and organisations will again join the national Cultural Heritage Days program series this year. As part of the Days of Cultural Heritage, on September 16 and 17, the public interested in Debrecen’s built and cultural heritage is welcomed with free walks, building tours and lectures.
Programmes:
16 September, Saturday
10 am: Introduction of the former Chamber of Industry headquarters building and a tour of the building organised by Cívis Ház Zrt. and the City Protection and Beautification Association of Debrecen
10 am: Lost rails in Falóger – Presentation of the Cívisporta Association and tour of the buildings (Big Boiler House, Small Boiler House and the former station master’s residence) at the Ruyter Street station of Zsuzsi Forest Railway (Zsuzsi Erdei Vasút)
10 am, 11 am, 12 pm, 1 pm: Tour in the building of Hajdú-Bihar County Government Office headquarters, in the County Hall
2 pm: Alföldi “Deákos” City Tour based on the book of songs and anecdotes by Debrecen Students, published in the summer of 2023, guided by local history researcher Máté Horog, the book’s editor
2 pm: Historical walk in the Debrecen Zoo celebrating the 65th anniversary of its opening
5:30 pm: Night of Churches Tour I: Oratory of the Reformed College, Baptist House of Worship, Red church (Verestemplom), Trinity Church, Greek Catholic Church
6:45 pm: Night of the Churches Tour II.: Oratory of the Reformed College, St. Anne’s Cathedral, Evangelical Church, Small Reformed Church, Great Reformed Church
7 pm: Guided church tour and organ concert in the Great Reformed Church as part of the Night of the Temples and Ars Sacra Festival
17 September, Sunday
10:00 am: Wandering through the Old Town in Szentlászlófalva in memory of János Térey with guide, Nóra Erdei
10:00 am, 11:00am, 12:00pm, 1 pm: Tour in the building of the Land Registry Department of Hajdú-Bihar County Government Office, in the former Financial Palace
2 pm: Historical walk in the Debrecen Amusement Park
4 pm: Our living heritage, the cívis houses – a city walk in Debrecenfalva with architect Attila Harangi, organised by the City Protection and Beautification Association of Debrecen
