Debrecen once again demonstrates the exemplary cooperation of companies, civil and religious organisations, and institutions in the city to benefit the people in need. This attitude of the town represents a cohesive force unparalleled in the country.

The Master Good group has supported families in need in Debrecen for years. This year, as in previous years, it donated HUF 20,000,000 worth of meat to the Debrecen Charity Board.

The donations will be distributed to families and elderly people in need by the member organisations of the Debrecen Charity Body and the member institutions of the DMJV Family and Child Welfare Centre. The donation, consisting of 4,300 parcels, will be distributed in two instalments. The parcels include Master Good frozen whole chicken legs and Smokey Sausage products. The first donation (2,415 packages) was delivered on 25 November 2024, and the second (1,885 packages) will be delivered to the Debrecen Charity Board in January 2025.

After receiving the first packages on 25 November, Mayor László Papp said that today’s event is the result of a very broad collaboration—thanks to the Bárány family. This family owns Master Good Group, and the City of Debrecen has been cooperating with the family and the group for five years now in several aspects, one of which is to help families not rich in material goods prepare for the holidays.

As the mayor stressed, he is very grateful to László Bárány for the support that the city of Debrecen can count on year after year. László Papp also said that the Bárány family is not only involved in donations before Christmas but also in many other aspects of the city’s life, including sports, to support the preparation and development of talented young people. So this cooperation is very multifaceted.

“It’s good to think that there are wealthy families in Debrecen who see beyond their sphere of interest, who see the difficulties and challenges of the people living in the city, and when the need arises, they can help and support with good heart and good feeling. This year, the family and the company will again contribute to the support of Debrecen families with a donation of HUF 20 million, which the city once again accepts with gratitude,” he said.

László Papp thanked the representatives of the member organisations of the Debrecen Charity Body and the activists who would deliver the donations to the families in need during the day. He also welcomed the hundreds of people who came to the site to receive the donations directly. The mayor hoped the year could end with a peaceful Christmas.

Speaking of the fifth year of cooperation with the city, László Bárány Sr., owner of the Master Good Group, promised that there would be sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth anniversaries to celebrate. In particular, he said he was pleased to see so many young people among the activists, which is important because the young people who help to deliver the donations will remember years and decades from now that those who can take care of those in need.

Diána Széles, deputy mayor and co-president of the Debrecen Charity Board, stressed that they can only help with donations if there are people who donate. The association strives for cooperation with all donors, including building trust so donors can experience that help will go to the right place through the Debrecen Charity Board as a kind of bridge. If they so wish, all donors are offered the opportunity to be introduced by the charity to the families to whom their donations have been directed.

László Bárány is one of those who have visited such families, and he has repeated the visit, this time with his grandchildren, to visit families in need so that the children can make a gift and meet directly with those they can help and those they should help. For the Bárány family, caring is not a corporate “social responsibility policy” but a heartfelt intention that can serve as a model for other entrepreneurs who want to help.

Edit Bódor, president of the Debrecen Charity Board called the Bárány family’s donation an angel, carried to the families by “little angels.” As a token of thanks and a symbol of the festive season, she gave László Bárány an angel statue and expressed the hope that it will be placed under the family’s Christmas tree to remind them of the joy they have brought to many with their donation.

The meat donations received on 25 November were handed over to the people in need on the same day by the staff of the diverse member organisations of the Debrecen Charity Body.

In addition, the DMJV Family and Child Welfare Centre and the Debrecen-Nagycsere-Haláp Reformed Parish are also involved in the delivery of the parcels. The donation packages were sent to people in need and will be sent in January 2025 to those connected to one of the listed organisations and institutions.
