In the vibrant heart of Debrecen’s university life, the Reformed University Church greets students, staff, and visitors with openness, music, and community. Situated at 2 Egyetem Square, the congregation is active not only on the main campus but across all three campuses of the University of Debrecen.

Under the guiding motto “Eggyel közelebb!” (“One step closer!”), the congregation seeks to bring people closer—to God, to one another, and to themselves. Its worship services are marked by warmth and relevance: held on Tuesday at the Kassai Campus, Wednesday at the University Square, and Thursday at the Böszörményi Campus, they feature contemporary Christian music, meaningful themes, and a friendly atmosphere.

But the life of the congregation extends beyond Sunday services. Groups for music, media, kitchen teams, and social service allow individuals to contribute their gifts and connect in tangible ways. They host Bible studies, trainings, quiz nights, city trips, and festive events—BBQs and Christmas dinners among them—offering both spiritual nourishment and social connection.

With a staff of dedicated ministers, the congregation reaches out to students with care, support, and vision. In 2022, a major renovation brought new life to the University Church—restoring its structure and reaffirming its role as a spiritual home for the campus community.
