Driving licence & Car registration
Driving licence
If you have a valid driving licence issued by a foreign country, you can only drive in Hungary with this licence until the end of the validity period of the relevant document(s), if it was issued in accordance with EU rules.
You may drive in Hungary even if you hold a valid driving licence and a valid international driving permit, even if your licence was not issued in accordance with EU rules.
Car registration
If you move to Hungary from another EU Member State, you must have your vehicle inspected again when registering it in Hungary. The authority responsible for motor vehicle inspections in Hungary is the Road Transport Office of the National Transport Authority (Nemzeti Közlekedési Hatóság Közúti Gépjármű-közlekedési Hivatala).
