University and National Library of the University of Debrecen

The University of Debrecen University and National Library (DEENK), established in 2001, was created by the merger of the former libraries, complemented by the Social Sciences Library, founded in 2002. Over the past decade and a half, the libraries, which were very different in nature, operation and development, have been transformed into a single organisation and, a hundred years after its birth, the University of Debrecen Library is once again serving its users as a single institution, both inside and outside the university. The library is the second largest library in the country and one of the largest service units of the university. Its vast collection of more than 6 million items is housed in eight library units on six campuses of the university, with spacious reading spaces and a unified service environment.
