Biography
Dr. István Puskás worked at the Fazekas Mihály High School and then as a lecturer at the Italian Department of the University of Debrecen. He is a habilitated associate professor.
He publishes in several languages and is also known as a literary translator.
He has been an active participant in Debrecen’s cultural life for several decades. His name is linked to numerous literary evenings, concerts, art projects, and the creation of cultural community spaces. As a creator and organizer, his most important project was the MODEM exhibition “The Real da Vinci” in 2007. He also played an essential role in the arrival of the exhibition “Impressions” in Debrecen.
He has worked on several international cultural projects of national importance, such as managing the Hungarian pavilion at the Venice Biennale between 2012 and 2016.
From January 2017 to December 2019, he managed the Hungarian Academy of Rome, the most prestigious cultural institute with the longest tradition.
