Levi Strauss, the founder of Levi’s clothing store, was born in Germany in 1829 and sailed to the United States when he was 18. After he became a citizen, he called himself Levi. He owes his worldwide fame to a tailor named Jacob Davis, who, in 1873, jointly patented the studded trousers, of which blue was the most popular, and Levi’s became his name. In addition to the rivets, the brown leather label used from 1886 and the white Levi’s canvas label with white Levi’s lettering on a red background from 1936 became the staple of Levi’s jeans. In 1987, Levi’s group created the Dockers brand, which primarily offered casual, business-style clothing for men. The Levi’s store is located in the Forum shopping center in Debrecen.
