A mini sports competition, environmentally friendly activities, and concerts awaited the children at Józsa Grund on the 20th of May, 2023. The Grund was the venue for Children and Families Day, and the event was the first in a series of Children’s Day events in the city.

Families in the neighbourhood were treated to a full day of activities. There were music and dance performances, pony rides and bunny petting, as well as games of skill. There was a classic children’s day atmosphere with bouncy castles, face painting and arts and crafts activities, but there was also cotton candy and ice cream. Children’s Day is one of the most important events of the year. The family programme in Józsa was the result of a real community effort.

“The local associations, the local community centre, the library and the Debrecen Sports School worked to make sure that the children had a good time,” Ákos Balázs, deputy mayor and representative of the district’s local government, said at the event.

“Debrecen is a very strong community, and this community was strong enough here in Józsa, for example, to create such a great facility. It is a reason why developments like the Grund really make sense, Mayor of Debrecen László Papp said.

Lajos Kósa, Member of Parliament, also greeted the participants at the event. At the official opening ceremony, the medals of the Kindergarten Football Cup were also handed out.

This year, hundreds of families participated in the Children’s Day activities in Józsa. Children have received free ice creams and free tickets to the Debrecen Zoo.
