The first academic year of cooperation between the German company Bürkle Hungary Kft. and DSZC was described as an exemplary model during a visit to the company on Wednesday. The popularity of vocational training, which offers career opportunities, shows the need to expand the schools.
In 2019, Bürkle Hungary Kft.’s machine manufacturing plant, which mainly builds press and surface treatment machines and laminate systems, was inaugurated. Since then, the company has been continuously developing, adding a new department last year, and is also involved in vocational training.
Since September last year, as part of the dual training, five students from the Beregszászi Pál Technical Vocational School and the Brassai Sámuel Technical Vocational Grammar School have been trained. Their main goal is to ensure that young people who have completed their apprenticeships stay on as employees.
“We have had a very successful first year; this summer, we have extended it a bit, we have taken on seven more students for summer internships, and now we will employ two more for training from autumn,” Gábor Laczkó, factory manager of Bürkle Hungary Kft., said.
Vocational education is in an exceptional position in Debrecen, the chancellor of Debrecen Vocational Training Centre (DSZC) Zsolt Tirpák sayid adding that they can tell where the professions they teach can be used. As with Bürkle, the dual training at the partner companies gives students career opportunities, he pointed out.
“Vocational training cannot be delivered by an institution alone. It can be done by working with companies, by working with partners where the knowledge will be put to use,” he added.
An important part of the city’s economic development strategy is to create job-creating investments that will give more and more young people the opportunity to find a job. Deputy Mayor of Debrecen Lajos Barcsa said this would further increase the population retention capacity of Debrecen and the agglomeration.
Dual training is good for young people because it gives them a vision of the future, and for companies, it means an excellent workforce that can be used immediately. Vocational training is so popular that infrastructure improvements are also needed, the deputy mayor stressed.
“We now need to work on how to expand these schools, and we are at the end of the planning process. This autumn, we are preparing a proposal to the government to expand and develop these schools,” Lajos Barcsa said.
From next September, Bürkle Hungary Kft. will be training twelve students, who will receive a salary during this time.
