From the 28th of August, as part of the usual mid-year changes, MÁV-START has modified the timetable of some railway lines to provide passengers with an even more flexible and convenient journey.

The most important new feature is that Debrecen and Eger are connected by InterRegio trains running every two hours during the day. Several Volánbus services will also change their timetable in the Érd and Biatorbágy area.

Based on passenger signals, public comments and professional decisions, the railway company has changed the timetables on 11 routes from 28th of August.

In recent years, the railway line between Debrecen and Macs has been completely renewed by the National Infrastructure Development Agency (NIF) and then by the Ministry of Construction and Transport. During the renovation, replacement buses transported passengers.

The improvements have enabled MÁV-START to create a direct link between Debrecen and Eger. On the 28th of August, the InterRegio service was launched with air-conditioned motorised trains, with 7 pairs of trains a day. The trains cover the distance in 2 and a half hours. The first trains leave Debrecen for Eger at 4:39 a.m. and 6:59 a.m., and run every two hours between 8:59 a.m. and 4:59 p.m.. From Eger, the first train to Debrecen leaves at 6:28 a.m., and then runs every two hours from 8:42 a.m. to 6:42 p.m., with trains available for both national and duchy tickets, and two bicycles at a time. The timetable of several trains on the line are changed to coincide with the start of the InterRegio services.

Passengers are advised to check the departure times of the trains before travelling.

Passengers can find detailed information about the changes on the MÁV website and in the MÁV app.
