The Debrecen 2030 programme will continue with large-scale road repairs across the city.
The primary objective is to replace ageing and deteriorated asphalt pavements and, where necessary, to improve the structural condition of the road surface to improve traffic quality and safety.
On Kemény Zsigmond Street, two phases of road resurfacing have already been carried out in 2021 and 2022. Now, in the framework of Phase III, which was the subject of a press conference held on-site by István Becsky, Member of the Municipality, and László Tasó, Member of Parliament, nearly 230 metres of pavement (in front of the kindergartens and the garage) will be renewed at a gross cost of around HUF 42 million.
The works started on 4th September 2023 with the pruning of trees in the traffic gap and the preparatory works for replacing the kerb. This will be followed by curb demolition and construction works, followed by milling of the pavement and levelling of the manhole covers. After the utility fittings have been levelled, the new asphalt-wearing course can be laid.
The work will be completed with landscaping and paving works, which are expected to last until the end of October, weather permitting. The project will be accompanied by the resurfacing of the car parks, which will be covered with asphalt.
The Kemény Zsigmond Street project is part of the second phase of the large-scale road repairs in Debrecen this year. The second and third phases of this year’s large-scale road repairs will cover a total of 32 road sections at a total cost of HUF 2.2 billion.
