A Danish-based aircraft overhaul company has opened a plant in Debrecen, in the Daniella Industrial Park.

Skyways Technics currently employs only Hungarian staff, with one exception. The international group is looking to expand regionally, and Debrecen is the best place to do so.

Skyways Technics is engaged in the repair and maintenance of aircraft components at its newly opened plant in Debrecen. The simplest way to put it is that we receive an aircraft from anywhere in the world, and it lands at our Danish sister company, where our colleagues take it apart. The pieces are shipped to Hungary, here to us in Debrecen, we refurbish them, then we send them back, packed, and the customer receives the finished aircraft from Denmark,” Norbert Gulyás, Managing Director of Skyways Technics Hungary Kft., explained.

The company has a presence in several countries, and Debrecen was chosen from 29 potential sites, partly because of its busy international airport. According to the company’s CEO, they can expand their services here, relying primarily on skilled Hungarian labour. “We are starting with fifteen employees, but I expect that number to double by the beginning of next year, and then we will try to grow even further. We see a big demand in the market, and we want to serve that here in Debrecen,” Benjamin Nielsen pointed out.

According to Deputy Mayor  of Debrecen Ákos Balázs, Skyways Technics will further strengthen the city’s regional role: “This is an activity that can be viable in the long term and can create mutually reinforcing economic activities linked to the airport. It is another company that is creating development in the city linked to Debrecen Airport,” he added.

The company currently upgrades 2-4 aircraft parts per month, but in the long term, they would like to increase the monthly workload in Debrecen to over 10. Among the aerospace players already present in Debrecen are Diehl and Oerlikon.
