Fifty new jobs are created in Debrecen by Aldi International IT Services Kft.
One of the food retail group’s member companies has opened an IT service centre in the Agóra office building. The open positions are primarily looking for IT engineers and software developers. It is planned to serve 29 thousand customers in 8 countries from the Debrecen centre.
The German company’s IT service centre will offer IT support, software development and testing, among other services, to ALDI’s corporate groups and customers.
“IT ensures our operations and our future capabilities. These investments not only create security but also make a significant contribution to the development of the national economy and the livelihoods of families,” Bernhard Haider, national managing director of ALDI Hungary Food Bt., said.
The food retail chain has almost 170 stores in Hungary, but only the third IT service centre. It currently has over 29,000 partners in 8 countries and plans to serve them from here. They want to fill their vacancies with highly qualified IT engineers and software developers.

Debrecen has a broad education portfolio, with a strong focus on foreign language teaching, which means a skilled workforce with competitive skills, Mayor of Debrecen László Papp said. He continued by saying that Debrecen is an attractive destination where all companies can plan confidently, as can young people because well-paid jobs are being created here – 50 right now – which will provide long-term career opportunities for young people in Debrecen,
MP László Pósán stressed that better job opportunities have been recognised by young people, who are increasingly finding their place in the city.
“Cities that have a strong past and a strong presence in education are the ones that can make a difference in today’s world. Debrecen is such a city; it has been a school town for 500 years and is still a school town today,” he said.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said that Germany is our country’s number one trading partner and number one investor. Last year, the countries had a record bilateral trade turnover of more than EUR 67 billion.
“This year, the data available to us so far also show an increase of just under 10 per cent, which means that there is a good chance that Hungarian-German trade will be able to set an absolute record this year as well,” he pointed out.
The government has supported the establishment of the IT centre with HUF 120 million.
