The summer charter offer of the Debrecen airport has been established, Dehir learnt from the Managing Director of Debrecen International Airport Ltd. Tamás Király.
Tui will launch charter flights to Antalya, Turkey, as will Ibusz. Ibusz will also operate charter flights to the Greek island of Crete, Hania. Robinson Tours will operate charter flights to Burgas in Bulgaria and Kartago Tours to Monastir in Tunisia.
Wizz Air currently flies to London, Rome, Larnaca in Cyprus (which has not been a holiday route for some time, but operates all year round) and Eindhoven from Debrecen, while Lufthansa flies to Munich.
In mid-April, Wizz Air will launch a new scheduled flight to Istambul.
It was announced earlier this year that Wizz Air will relaunch its three seasonal holiday flights from Debrecen, so in spring, summer and autumn 2024, flights will be available from Debrecen to Antalya in Turkey, Corfu in Greece and Burgas in Bulgaria. Flights to Turkey and Bulgaria will be started in the spring and Corfu in the summer.
Tamás Király told Dehir that they expected an increase of about 10 percent from the summer season. They hope that the Wizz Air flight to Tel Aviv, which was suspended due to the war in Israel, will relaunch soon, but they do not expect it to be as popular as it was before. It is hoped that many people will choose new destinations this summer, including Rome, Istanbul and Tunisia.
According to their calculations and hopes, the annual passenger traffic will be similar to last year, when 306,000 passengers used Debrecen Airport. “We see that the demand for travel is increasing, so the passenger traffic could also rise, but at the same time Wizz Air is maintaining the engines on its planes this year, which is why we have reduced the number of flights, “ as Tamás Király said.
