Not a single flight had to be cancelled at Debrecen International Airport

Yesterday evening, during the inspection of the Debrecen International Airport’s runway, airport employees noticed a defect in the condition of the concrete surface, which was caused by thermal expansion due to extremely high and persistent temperatures.

Not a single flight had to be cancelled at Debrecen International Airport, passengers were transferred to other airports!

Safety first in aviation! In accordance with the protocol, the airport took the necessary measures to correct the problem and informed the airlines and the travelling public of the runway closure.

After consulting with the owners, it organised the transfer of departing passengers by bus to Budapest Airport in order to allow them to start their journey.

During the summer, hundreds of families are preparing to travel from Debrecen, and their comfort and safety is a major responsibility even if there are no obstacles.

The manager of the airport will do everything possible to ensure that no flights are cancelled and that passengers get to the new departure airports. Thanks to this, no flights have had to be cancelled so far, the flights were able to depart from Liszt Ferenc International Airport.

The contractor immediately began repairs to the runway, which will be ready to receive aircraft again next week.
