Debrecen’s largest playground was visited by nearly 200,000 people in the first half of the year.
A brass quintet welcomed visitors to the second birthday of the Sziget kék playground on Saturday.
The three-day celebration was crowned with a 100-slice cake, which was welcomed with great joy by all who visited the park. The park’s mascot, Kandúrka the cat, also celebrated with the participants.
The birthday celebrations included a colourful programme of games and crafts in the park. After the cake, the children were treated to a puppet show.
On the first birthday of the Sziget kék playground, the organisers reported nearly 280,000 visitors. This year, the figures for the first half of the year have already reached 200,000, meaning that the park’s popularity has increased significantly.
Mária Nagy, the head event organiser of Nagyerdei Kultúrpark, emphasised that children can have a great time in this wonderful environment during the year, because in addition to the games, there are many activities on offer.
The playground’s games are based on the book “Sziget-kék” by Magda Szabó. The birthday of Debrecen’s largest playground was this year combined with children’s book days.
