Municipal councillor István Bognár held a briefing about the completed project on the 23rd of August 2024.

István Bognár said that a connection was created between the Burgundia Street and Hunyadi János Street bus lanes in the framework of the Debrecen 2030 programme to make public transport in the city centre faster and more dynamic.

He added that Debrecen will continue to pay special attention to transport development in 2024. The large-scale road renovation and construction works in the city aim to ensure comfortable and safe transport for the people living in the city and those coming from the agglomeration.

He highlighted that the construction of the bus lane, which started on the 1st of July 2024, includes the construction of a 110-metre-long new road section on the northern side of János Hunyadi Street, between Péterfia and Rákóczi Streets, as well as large-scale asphalting works. The project also includes a new street lighting network and storm water drainage. The planting works will be carried out in milder and more favourable weather conditions than at present.

The investment cost a gross amount of HUF 75 million, provided by the municipality from its own resources.

István Bognár thanked the contractor for the fast and precise work, which was completed in 56 days, so that the road could be fully reopened before the start of school.
