On Monday, the children studying at the institution were able to take possession of a brand new playground, with several elements provided to the students by the municipality. The Debrecen School District Centre as the maintainer and the local government provided a total of HUF 20 million for the investment.

The new playground was opened to the primary school children on Ibolya Street on Monday.

The municipality had a play castle and a climbing pyramid built for the children, while the maintenance company, the school district center, improved the playground with landscaping, a sandpit, garden tables and benches. Mayor László Papp said that the decision to help with the development was made the year before when they visited the school. 

“We all thought we’d treat you to a little playground at the start of the school year and we would like the sadness of the beginning of the school year to disappear and we would like to have a beautiful playground for you to use all year round,”  the Mayor said at the opening ceremony.

This will give children a great opportunity to exercise and relax during breaks, and the development even includes a psychologist’s office for professional work. Commenting on the playground, the director of the Debrecen School District Centre said that the joint investment also demonstrated the excellent cooperation with the municipality. The work at the institution is going well. The Ibolya Utcai Primary School came second in the school district in terms of academic results.

“This academic year, the institution was ranked first among primary schools at the school district level, with a 4.74 grade point average,” the Director of the Debrecen School District Centre, László Türk said.

The school director reminded the children to take good care of the playground equipment.

“Take care of them, protect them, and I wish you all the same a lot of lasting memories here under the shady trees.Have exciting adventures and many happy moments in this beautiful park of our school! “ wiith these words, the Director of the Ibolya Street Primary School, Mrs. Zsófia Gyurkóné Mezei Katalin handed over the new playground to the children.

The children also received toys as presents. The playground cost HUF 20 million to build, three quarters of which was financed by the municipality.
