Children and students aged 6 to 14 years old who are in kindergarten or have a student status in public educational institutions in Debrecen can use local public transport free of charge with the Junior Debrecen City Card or the Debrecen City Card registered with the Junior Debrecen City Card.
The data of the children entitled to free local public transport passes have been provided to the city card operator Főnix Rendezvényszervező KN Ltd. by the institutional maintainers. On the basis of the data, registration for the Junior Debrecen City Card started on the 25th of September 2024.

The Municipality of Debrecen asks the representatives of eligible children to register as soon as possible.
DKV PLC will assign the free local transport passes to the cards to be prepared on the basis of the registration, and afterwards the cards will be delivered by Főnix Rendezvényszervező Ltd. to the institutions.
In September, free public transport was available to those concerned on presentation of a photo ID, which can be used for personal identification, and DKV PLC will extend this possibility to October. If the Junior Debrecen City Card is registered by the 20th of October, the Junior Debrecen City Card will be available from the 1st of November. If the registration takes place even later, for example on the 21st of October or later, the discount can be used on DKV PLC vehicles from the 1st of December by presenting the card.
Children who are not new entrants but have already registered in the previous school or kindergarten year do not need to register again, they can use the local transport with their city card from September.
Since the start of the program, more than 15,000 Junior Debrecen City Cards have been registered.
