A round table discussion in Debrecen honoured German Unity Day, commemorating the country’s reunification in 1990.
The roundtable discussion was held at the Reformed University Church in Debrecen, where the leaders of German companies in the city and the University of Debrecen participated.
The participants discussed urban development, German work culture, and the potential of Hungarian creativity, among other topics.
In his welcome speech, Mayor László Papp emphasised the importance of German-Hungarian cooperation in educational, cultural, and economic terms.
Regarding the latter, he pointed out that Debrecen has become one of the strongest eastern pillars of the German economy in recent years.
“Debrecen’s economy has developed excellent relations with the world’s major economic powers in recent years, be it Eastern or Western. In this regard, the German economic presence is outstanding, as the city’s history and past are closely linked to Germany and the German-speaking region,” László Papp said at the event.
