The completion of a nearly one-and-a-half-year project has been announced.
On 11 November, the Nagymacs access road received the final authorisation to be put into service, Mayor László Papp announced at a press conference on the 15th of November 2024.
As the mayor said, this access road is an essential change in Nagymacs’s life. The development provides a direct link between Nagymacs and Józsa, as the motorway interchange in Józsa will allow this, as the motorway junction in Józsa will allow this.
The mayor pointed out that this 1.8 km-long road will reach the city’s transport system via the BMW factory area and the Northwes Economic Zone, providing Nagymacs much more comfortable, safer, and better access. He noted that a cycle path has been built alongside the road for agricultural machinery, which will also ensure the safety of residents and cyclists in Nagymacs, as it will become part of the city’s overall cycle path network.
Erzsébet Katona, a municipal representative, said that it was now possible for the people of Nagymacs to travel from two directions from the settlement and that traffic would not be blocked entirely in the event of an accident. She added that people living in the district were looking forward to being able to join the cycling transport system in Debrecen, as this had already been done in Kismacs, which is not far away. She pointed out that, in cooperation with local transport company DKV, many bus services are now running to the Northwest Economic Zone, and two bus stops and bus shelters have been built. She added that the investment was made with public funding of HUF 1.591 billion.
