An exhibition entitled “Artists’ Christmas” opened at the New Town Hall Gallery on the 5th of December 2024.

The exhibition of the students of Kós Károly Art High School, Technical School and Dormitory not only highlights the creative talents of the young artists but also plays a prominent role in the life of the school, as it is linked to the Kós Károly Days, as it is connected to the Kós Károly Days organized in honour of their namesake.

At the opening of the exhibition, Deputy Mayor István Puskás recalled that Kós Károly creative art community had shown the best of their artistic knowledge in the city several times this year, including during the Art Week or at the animation film festival,”Skicc”. “This exhibition showcases talent management, teaching, and artistic work at the school, but it also helps us get in the mood for Advent and Christmas,” István Puskás said. He added that he hoped the exhibition would help customers coming to the office get some spiritual refreshment as they prepare for the coming festive season.

László Türk, Director of the Debrecen School District Centre, said in his welcome speech, ” The holiday is not a break from work; it is the joy of the human soul, which supports the body. It asks for a feeling, something extraordinary, a thought that inspires. Without feeling there is no holiday.” He emphasised that he was proud of the active involvement of the school’s students and teachers in the festive preparations, contributing to the creation of the Advent atmosphere in many places, among others: the service building of the skating rink on Kossuth Square, dressing up of the “Pass it On” cottage in the Advent Soul Garden.

Tünde Vargáné Szabadka, Head of the Kós Károly Art High School, Technical School and Dormitory, said that the school’s students, who transformed the Christmas interior into the central part of the exhibition, study goldsmithing, motion picture animation design, art graphics, and fashion style and costume design.

The exhibition can be viewed until the 6th of January, 2025 during the opening hours of the New Town Hall.
