Most participants came to the run in cheerful Christmas-themed sweaters and headdresses.

The event was held for the fourth time in the city on Saturday, and one of its main aims is to promote physical activity. Most of the runners came in cheerful Christmas sweaters and headdresses. A donation box was set up at the event again this year. The Debrecen Charity Board will distribute the sweets and toys collected to families in difficult circumstances.

At this year’s Ugly Sweater Run, attendees could start in two distances: three and a half kilometres and one kilometre after the warm-up.

“This is a joint action of “Move, Debrecen!” of the Debrecen Charity Board and Főnix. We think making children love movement as a leisure activity and doing charity work is essential. We believe it’s important that they think of others. During Advent, we always emphasise that Advent should not only be about us but also about others,” Deputy Mayor Diána Széles pointed out.
