Richter has also signed a partnership agreement with the University of Debrecen

In a festive ceremony at the Richter Centre, the institutions joining the Richter Innovation Ecosystem signed the Partnership Agreement, which aims to strengthen innovation, identify new insights and exploit them in three research networks (Neuroinflammation, Neuropsychiatric Translational and Human Reproduction).

In line with its corporate strategy, Richter started in 2022 to develop a new collaborative innovation structure to address unmet medical societal needs. It has organised networks of university, research institute and start-up company working groups, bringing together the best researchers in their fields who share Richter’s innovation goals, to jointly ensure the long-term sustainability of domestic pharmaceutical manufacturing and pharmaceutical R&D in Hungary.

“Targeted promotion of R&D related to the health economy not only strengthens the country’s national sovereignty and economy, but can also lead to the creation of marketable products and services abroad. In this spirit, the Government is committed to supporting Richter Gedeon’s mission to provide a space for pioneering pharmaceutical research innovation processes that will eventually lead to the development of high-tech healthcare products, patents and socially useful results and therapeutic procedures in the country,” Minister of Culture and Innovation,” Balázs Hankó said.

In recent years, a new demand has emerged in the field of university and academic collaborations. Richter, recognising this, has created the Richter Innovation Ecosystem, which currently consists of three Networks, based on the widespread practice of “open innovation” in the R&D&I world.

“It is key for Richter to use knowledge and resources outside its own walls in research and development. The innovation ecosystem we have now created provides a framework in which the best academic and university researchers can collaborate with industry to address unmet medical, societal and market needs without compromising their innovative approach and freedom to publish. They can do this in a state-of-the-art laboratory environment, using the latest tools and technologies. We are convinced that the newly created Richter Innovation Ecosystem will result in innovative solutions that can have a positive impact on people’s quality of life and the functioning of society,” CEO of Richter Gedeon PLC, Gábor Orbán said.
