In a statement sent to Hungarian Telegraph Office, MTI, it is recalled that the majority owner of the operating company, the Ministry of Transport and Communications sees it as a priority task in the new year to increase the traffic of Debrecen International Airport to the peak level of 2019 or beyond by launching new flights or those that have already been operating successfully.

The aim of the flight developments, while taking into account the emerging travel needs, is to develop the regional leadership of the airport and to make available destinations that open new doors for Hungary in global air transport.

As a result of these efforts, Wizz Air has reintroduced flights to Larnaca in Cyprus and Burgas in Bulgaria for the summer scheduling season.

They added that the airport’s management is in ongoing discussions with various airlines about the possibility of expanding the flights.

“The management is determined to expand the offer of the summer season, which will start on the 30th of  March 2025, with additional new flights in the future. Besides the development of the seasonal offer, the negotiations will also focus on the expansion of the year-round flights as soon as possible, “ the Ministry of National Economy stated.
