The Hungarian Film Harvest is being held for the ninth time at the Apolló Cinema.

The festival of domestic film production awaits those interested with pre-premiere screenings and audience meetings. This year, the celebration of Hungarian films in Debrecen will last two weeks, which is unusual. Between the 10th and the 23rd of February, fans will be treated to more than forty domestic films and 16 audience meetings.

“We Are Azahriah”, “The Ernellas at the Farkas”, and “Now or Never!” Hungarian films will again take centre stage at the Apolló Cinema between the 10th and the 23rd of February. The Hungarian Film Harvest awaits lovers of domestic motion pictures for the ninth time with pre-premiere screenings, audience meetings and national premieres.

“It’s wonderful to say that we are holding the festival for 14 days, and there will be so many screenings. We are screening 42 films, a record in the history of the Film Harvest. We couldn’t be happier or more looking forward to the festival,” Director of Apolló Cinema Tamás Fejér said at the launch briefing on Tuesday.

A special highlight will be the screening of the trilogy, signed by one of the festival’s patrons, Szabolcs Hajdu, after which the director will invite the audience to a discussion.

Before the film festival, Csokonai Theatre will also be showing theatrical versions of the films, which focus on family and social problems.

“A person cannot see themselves and their problems because they are in the middle of them. A person cannot see the forest for the trees. However, from the safe three steps away, which is the darkness of the cinema, they can see them, and perhaps solutions may begin to dawn,” Award-winning film director and actor Béla Balázs revealed.

This year, a true acting legend has joined the ranks of supporters as a patron: Piroska Molnár is represented by three films at the 9th Hungarian Film Harvest.

“Every invitation is a great honour, especially in such a company as Szabolcs Hajdu. I did some research on what patronage is, and I immediately looked it up in the dictionary, and I was a little taken aback, but you have to be such a “show off ”, the Actor of the Nation emphasised.

This year’s festival will be the most extended meeting in its history. We can “harvest” films in the heart of the city centre for no less than two weeks. Deputy Mayor István Puskás said,This programme series helps to rethink current, relevant issues thanks to the films and their creators.”

“Through these films, we can re-enter into dialogue with our world, with today’s Hungary. This dialogue is greatly helped by the series of discussions that Apollo Cinema traditionally organises in connection with the films, “István Puskás emphasised.

The screenings and audience meetings will occur in the Apolló cinema’s Kertész Mihály room. With the Debrecen City Card, discounted tickets can be bought for the screenings of the two-week program series starting on the 10th of February.
