The German-owned company is carrying out a HUF 6 billion development in the city, creating 100 new jobs. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said that the company’s investment will enable the city to strengthen its export capacity, which will also be good for the domestic economy.
High-tech, custom-made machines are manufactured for the pharmaceutical and packaging industries at Harro Höfliger’s Debrecen plant. The company currently employs 200 people.
In addition to the existing hall, the new plant is now ready for construction, and the foundation stone was laid last autumn. The development will triple the company’s production capacity and create 100 new jobs.
“Thanks to our ongoing investment, we will soon achieve significant growth. We have been growing steadily for years, and thanks to our ongoing developments, we will take our performance to the next level,” Managing Director of Harro Hungary Csaba Juhász said.
“German-owned Harro Höfliger decided last year to expand in Hungary, where it has a well-trained workforce and security,” MP Lajos Kósa said.
The German economy may be seeing difficulties in Germany, but not in Hungary. I think that’s quite something, so I encourage Höfliger to plan here, to expand here. Debrecen is a good idea. A good idea for investment, a good place for this investment,” Lajos Kósa said.
“The development of Harro Höfliger will enable it to strengthen its export capacity, which is also good for the domestic economy,” Szijjártó said. The Minister added that the government will support the HUF 6 billion investment with HUF 1.5 billion in non-refundable grants.
“Here in Hungary, the Government guarantees the security of people and investments, because we know that security is the natural medium for economic growth,” the Minister pointed out.
In Hajdú-Bihar, 129 major investments have been made in 10 years, with a total value of more than four thousand billion forints and 22 thousand new jobs created. Most investors in the county chose Debrecen.
“In 2024, compared to 2013, new economic investments in Europe fell by almost half. Meanwhile, Debrecen is setting absolute records in the field of industry and economic development. It can be said that Debrecen is an excellent investment location, and this is also confirmed by the decision of Harro Höfliger,” Mayor László Papp emphasised.
Harro Höfliger is also involved in the education of future professionals. Currently, 50 young people are studying with them in dual training.
