People with disabilities can play sports free of charge at various sports facilities with the municipality’s support.

Under the name “Inclusion-InSport-InSociety – Heroes of Local Responsible Sports Enterprises” (Integration of people with disabilities into society through everyday sports activities, with the help of innovative software developed for sports), the Mozgó Cívisért Public Benefit Association is implementing professional cooperation in Debrecen, where people with disabilities can play sports for free at various sports service providers with the support of the municipality.

On February 13, 2025, 13 children with hearing impairments tried Kyokushin karate in the Shogun Sports Association gym. All of them were students of the Unified Special Education Methodological Institute for the Hearing Impaired, Kindergarten, Primary School, and College.

The Municipality of Debrecen organised the event within the framework of the international ERASMUS-SPORT-2023-SCP grant. Lajos Barcsa, Deputy Mayor of Debrecen, welcomed the participants personally and presented each with a gift.

The programme is open to the public, and the organisers welcome applications from disabled people’s organisations and sports service providers at sport@ph.debrecen.hu.

The Shogun Sports Association has been operating in Debrecen for 18 years. It educates and trains its students in karate. For the sixth year running, it is Hungary’s most successful club out of 101 sports organisations in Hungary. They operate in five locations in Debrecen, working with children from kindergarteners to older athletes.

Among their competitors are several European champions and 20 national team members. In addition to competition, their main objective is to promote recreational sports and a sedentary lifestyle. For more information about the association, please visit https://shogunse.hu/.
