The role of artificial intelligence in the corporate sector, the professional activities of the Debrecen BSC Roundtable and the results of educational and scientific cooperation with the Faculty of Informatics of the University of Debrecen were presented to foreign students at a professional meeting on Monday.
The Debrecen BSC Roundtable brings together seven large international companies, 4IG, British Telecommunications, Diehl Aviation, Deutsche Telecom IT Solutions (DT-ITS), Flowserve, NI (part of Emerson), Transcosmos, with which theFaculty of Informatics of the University of Debrecen has been in close professional contact for years.
Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science, András Hajdu emphasised in his opening speech that strengthening the partnership is a fundamental objective for the faculty, and as one of the most important focus areas of the faculty is artificial intelligence and data science, it is also striving for forward-looking cooperation with the corporate sector based on modern knowledge.
The university courses of the Debrecen BSC Roundtable provide a great platform for knowledge transfer, with more than 1,400 students having successfully completed them over the past 6 years.
“Thanks to industry partnerships and a high level of academic knowledge, job opportunities have increased and the world has opened up to students. Artificial intelligence is becoming more and more widespread, companies are increasingly turning in this direction and the amount of information available is constantly growing, making it essential to have this knowledge to obtain a marketable degree. Students studying here will acquire all the knowledge they need to understand the novelties and specificities of the subject area and to respond effectively to the social challenges it brings,” Dean of the Faculty of Informatics, András Hajdu said.
The Debrecen BSC Roundtable was represented by Director of Telecommunication Services at DT-ITS, Beáta Szoták who said that artificial intelligence has a big impact on the corporate sector, and students can learn first-hand about the experiences related to it.
“Artificial intelligence is also present in the healthcare industry, engineering, the automotive industry and telecommunications, so it is very important for young people to see how the Debrecen BSC Round Table member companies operate, and thus to get international examples of the activities of individual companies. Thanks to the cooperation between the faculty and the companies, students can gain up-to-date practical knowledge from company experts,” Beáta Szoták added.
At the panel discussion, representatives of the Round Table companies informed the students about the practical applications of artificial intelligence, the impact of AI on everyday life, and the emerging application areas in the sector. The students were also able to hear about the role of technology in the development of industrial companies and how it can help production, whether in the pharmaceutical industry, telecommunications, education, science, robotics, transport management or the management of large amounts of data.
