The SZINORG Group is developing a new logistics and warehousing centre in the Northwest Economic Zone. At the groundbreaking ceremony of the center, called SZINPARK, Mayor László Papp emphasised that this investment will significantly contribute to the development of Debrecen and the region in the long term.
As a milestone in the development of the region, the SZINPARK investment aims to create a modern industrial and logistics infrastructure.
The development will be implemented on a total of 110 thousand square metres in the North-West Economic Zone. The first phase of SZINPARK will build a logistics and warehousing center with a floor area of 25 thousand square metres, which will play a significant role in the development of the industrial ecosystem. The investment also represents a significant step in the life of the company.
“We have always strived to create value in line with the development of the city and in response to current market demands. Our long-term commitment to Debrecen is demonstrated by the fact that, based on the SZINORG group’s strategy until 2030, we are planning developments worth approximately HUF 100 billion in the industrial hotel and residential segments, mainly in Hajdú-Bihar county, including Debrecen,” Deputy CEO of SZINORG Universal PLC Sándor Szabó said.
László Papp said at the groundbreaking ceremony that the logistics sector is one of the most crisis-resistant industries. The Mayor highlighted that the investment will significantly contribute to the expansion of the region’s industrial capacities. The city leader emphasised that the biggest question of the past ten years has been how local businesses can take their share of the industrial and economic revolution taking place in Debrecen.
“In 2014, we launched our economic development policy with the aim of ensuring that the Debrecen economy would have an impact not only on itself, but also on the region. Thanks to the investments being made here, I can confidently say that this development will slowly extend beyond the region. We will become a bridge between East and West, and the processes taking place here now are of centuries-old significance,” he highlighted.
State Secretary for the Development of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises and Technology at the Ministry of National Economy, Richárd Szabados stated that Debrecen is setting an example for the entire country, as this area is the most development-capable region in the country. “Every development also has a ripple effect, which motivates new companies to invest, implement developments and join the supply chain. If international companies have Hungarian companies as suppliers, then the Hungarian workforce can be utilised with its expertise in the right places,” the State Secretary pointed out.
At the ceremony, a time capsule was placed in the foundation stone, the content of which conveys a symbolic message to future generations. Then, the participants jointly laid the foundation stone of the SZINPARK logistics centre.
