On 11 April, events began honouring Debrecen City Day and the 176th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
The events started with a ceremonial flag-raising ceremony with the Debrecen Garrison Orchestra at the Old Town Hall.
During the day, there will be a guided walk through the city’s history and various performances and concerts. During Poetry Day and City Day, visitors can also fill out a Debrecen Quiz in the Libertine Bookshop. Ending the day, theater-loving audiences can attend the premiere of Pál Ábrahám’s grand operetta Victoria at the Csokonai Theatre.
Please find the programmes below. However, note that the City Day Tasting with dill buns and Debrecen “batyu” (Debrecen gourmet puff pastry), planned for 2:00 p.m., has changed venue. Due to the weather, it will be held at the Kölcsey Centre.
