“The Ministry of Construction and Transport has announced the public procurement for the renewal and extension of the building of the Beregszászi Pál Technical School of the Debrecen Vocational Training Centre and the construction of the new dormitory of the Mechwart András Mechanical Engineering and Informatics Technical School,” László Papp shared on his Facebook page.

The Mayor of Debrecen highlighted, “all this is significant progress in the field of practice-oriented vocational training. The knowledge and professional preparedness of our young people are one of the most important guarantees for the future of Debrecen and the region”.

As is known, in order to establish the automotive centre in Debrecen, the state supports the development of numerous educational institutions, including the development of the Beregszászi, Brassai and Mechwart technical schools.

Beregszászi Pál Technical School will be expanded and renovated from the inside

The tender documentation published in the Public Procurement Notice reminds that the Beregszászi Pál Technical School and Dormitory is located in the building complex at 17 Jerikó Street, of which the  energy modernisation was completed in January 2020, so the aim of the current development is to expand the institution with workshops and to renovate and modernise the interior of the existing building.

The winning company will be responsible for the construction of two new workshops (with high ceilings and car parking).

The extension will have a planned floor area of 578 square metres and will include a toilet and changing block, as well as new classrooms.

The structure of the new part of the building will be a continuation of the existing building.

The ministry received a precisely defined room programme from the institution regarding the transformation of the existing building. The floor coverings and windows and doors will be replaced in most of the classrooms, and the equipment will be adapted to the new function. The planned renovation will affect the corridors, staircases, sanitary blocks, swimming pool changing rooms, water engineering, gym changing rooms and the auditorium, and the buffet in the restaurant will also be expanded. New parking spaces will also be created, one of which will be equipped with an electric charging facility.

The deadline for receiving applications for participation is June 12.

Mechwart András Mechanical Engineering and Informatics Technical School to get a new dormitory

The Mechwart András Engineering and Information Technology Technical School located on Külsővásártér is planned to be expanded with a new dormitory, which will have 252 beds and 126 dormitory rooms.

The underground garage planned for the basement level of the dormitory, as well as the ground-floor utility entrance, will be accessible from the backyard, from the neighbouring plot, and from the side of the building facing the back garden.

The new dormitory will have five floors (basement, ground floor and 4 upper floors), with a usable floor area of 9,505 square metres. It will include several teacher rooms, a 54-seat lecture hall, and two elevators.

Companies can apply for this call until June 5.

Competition is fierce for the renovation work in Brassai

The first stage of the public procurement process launched by the Ministry of Construction and Transport for the renovation and expansion of the building of the Brassai Sámuel Technical School of the Debrecen Vocational Training Centre has been completed.

Twelve companies have expressed their intention to participate in the project, and eleven have been invited to submit bids.

According to the tender documentation, the task will be to expand the building at 3 Víztorony Street. During the construction, the existing building will also have to be modified (creating a larger teacher’s room, rationalising office space, expanding the canteen space at the expense of the kitchen space, eliminating the existing staircase), and new workshops and several theoretical and language classrooms will have to be created in the new building section based on the modified local building regulations. The workshops of the building section to be demolished will have to be replaced in the new building section, and a gym will be built in place of the existing sports field.
