According to the announcement of the MKIF Hungarian Concession Infrastructure Development Private Limited Liability Company, temporary traffic restrictions are expected on the Debrecen bypass section of Highway M35 from May 26, 2025.

The largest expressway renovation in the history of Hungary started in 2023 and will last until August 31 this year. The leveling affects 538 kilometers, 43% of the maintained track operated by the MKIF Hungarian Concession Infrastructure Development Private Limited Liability Company.

Accordingly, the following closures are expected on the Debrecen bypass section from May 26, 2025:

– On the side of Highway M35 leading to the M3, the so-called collector-distributor lane next to the main track will be closed between kilometre sections 2 and 4.

– At the Debrecen-West (Kishegyesi Road) junction, it is not possible to exit from the side coming from the national border towards Debrecen, and it is not possible to enter onto the side leading to Highway M3 at this junction either.

– At the Main Road 33 junction, it is not possible to exit from the side coming from the national border.

During the closure period, the following diversion routes can be used:

– From Berettyóújfalu towards Debrecen Industrial Zone: the side of Highway M35 towards Highway M3  – turning back at the Józsa junction – the side of Highway M35 towards the national border – from where you can exit the so-called collector-distributor lane at the Debrecen-West (Kishegyesi Road)  junction exit.

– From Berettyóújfalu towards Debrecen Centrum, Hortobágy (Main Road 33): the side of Highway M35 towards Highway M3 – turning back at the Józsa junction – the side of  M35 Highway towards the national border – the side of M35 Highway towards the national border, collector-distributor lane – Main Road 33 junction exit.

– From the direction of Berettyóújfalu towards BMW Gate II: the side of the M35 Highway towards the M3 Highway – turning back at the Józsa junction – the side of the M35 Highway towards the national border – the side of the M35 Highway towards the national border, collector-distributor lane – the exit of the main road junction 354 – BMW ring road II.

– From the direction of Berettyóújfalu towards Nyíregyháza: the side of Highway M35 towards Highway M3 – turning back at the Józsa junction – the side of Highway M35 towards the national border – the side of Highway M35 towards the national border, collector-distributor lane – the exit of Main Road 354 towards Nyíregyháza.

– From the direction of Kishegyesi Road towards Budapest: Kishegyesi Road – Pósa Street – Kishatár Street– Main Road 33 – the side of Highway M35 heading towards Highway M3.

According to the plans of MKIF Hungarian Concession Infrastructure Development Private Limited Company, the closures are expected to be in effect until June 24, 2025.

The dates of the closures and work may change depending on the weather, logistical arrangements and other external circumstances.
