Mayor of Debrecen László Papp welcomed Volkmar Klein at a working lunch, where, in addition to the city development strategy, he presented corporate settlements in Debrecen.
Volkmar Klein, member of the German federal parliament and chairman of the Hungary Working Group of the CDU/CSU faction, visited Debrecen at the invitation of the Debrecen German Cultural Forum.
Speaking at the event, mayor of Debrecen Làszló Papp said “Our establishment strategy far beyond our borders makes a decisive contribution to the development of electromobility, the maintenance of a livable environment and climate neutrality,” he added that modernity is combined with tradition in Debrecen.
Many German companies are already represented in the city and in the region, and thanks to the demand, a German school was even established last year, the mayor pointed out.
Volkmar Klein emphasised the friendly relations between Germany and Hungary and thanked the Hungarians for their tireless hospitality.
“A city can only succeed in attracting more and more new German and international companies in global competition if the location is attractive to companies and workers,” Volkmar Klein stated.
The meeting discussed the possibilities of cooperation in the field of e-mobility between Volkmar Klein’s home region and the city.
During the visit, Volkmar Klein also met the president of the German Cultural Forum in Debrecen Andrea Horváth, students from the University of Debrecen and representatives of the Debrecen Reformed College. He also visited the BMW construction site and the Hungarian-Ukrainian border.
