After five years, the City Ball will be held again in January 2025. The city is organising the event together with the University of Debrecen and the Hajdú-Bihar County Chamber of Commerce and Industry. On this occasion, there will once again be a charity event, this time supporting talented students from Debrecen.
After five years, the City Ball is held again. The event will take place in the Kölcsey Centre, where guests will be welcomed in several venues with different themes. A new element will be the so-called silent auction, the proceeds of which will be donated to charity.
“In putting together the whole program, we have tried to create a modern program that is both traditional and civil, but also of high quality, so that everyone can enjoy themselves,” Managing Director of Főnix Event Organiser Ltd., Zita Dobos said.
The City Ball is always accompanied by a charity event. This time, they intend to support talented students from Debrecen with the money raised at the event who demonstrate outstanding performance in the fields of culture, sports, and the arts, and who come forward with ideas focused on research and development.
“Talents are of great importance for the future of Debrecen, and I can say that the city is building its future on local talents. That is why the ball now also sets itself the goal of nurturing and supporting talents,” Mayor László Papp emphasised.
Rector Zoltán Szilvássy said, “Debrecen has always been the second most important city in the country. The oldest chamber of industry operating here, the 500-year-old university, and the city together form a unique cultural circle.”
“It has a history. It is a special, precious tradition in Debrecen that the Chamber, the City, and the University do something together, especially if it is a ball,” Rector of the University of Debrecen, Zoltán Szilvássy highlighted.
“The County Chamber considers this social event important. In the 175 years since the organisation was founded, these events have been significant from both a social and a business point of view. Entrepreneurs are very fond of the ball. A lot of decisions are made at these events that might not otherwise be made in the same way in everyday life. And besides having fun, it is an opportunity to build relationships and talk a lot,” Secretary General of the Hajdú-Bihar County Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Éva Skultéti said.
The City Ball will be held on the 25th of January, 2025.
