The new organ of St George’s Church (Szent György-templom) was blessed at the farewell mass.
In addition to the diocese, the parishioners also contributed to the cost of the new electric organ, and the local government provided HUF 1 million grant for the purchase of the organ.
The farewell mass of the church began with a program of the children of the Catholic kindergarten in Józsa. On this occasion the new organ of the building was blessed. County Bishop Ferenc Palánki said at the mass that the main purpose of artistic music in church services is to glorify God.
“We also, your holy people, who have gathered in the temple with joy, desire to join our voices in this great choir, that our hymn may soar all the more worthy to your majesty. We dedicate to you this organ waiting to be blessed,” he pointed out.
“It’s a very close-knit community and the churches play a very important role in this cohesion. The Catholic Church, the Reformed Church, the Roman Catholic Church and the Greek Catholic Church have a very strong base here. It’s good to see how much the church communities contribute to the development of Józsa,” Mayor of Debrecen László Papp, who took part in the event, as well as Deputy Mayor Ákos Balázs, the municipal representative of the district, emphasised in response to a question.
St George’s Church was inaugurated in 2015 and the congregation is mostly made up of families and children.
