In addition to local Christian bands, world-famous foreign bands will also perform at the Nagyerdei Stadium. The event will be held in the countryside for the first time this year, and young people from across the border are also welcome.
The large-scale, interdenominational, ecumenical programme entitled “This is the day!” will be held in Debrecen on 10th of June 2023.
The Christian light music event was launched 23 years ago. Viktor László, the main organiser, said that this year Debrecen will host the programme after Veszprém. Debrecen will provide the venue, the Nagyerdei Stadium, free of charge for the event.
“We are very happy that Debrecen will be enriched with a new element of its identity, according to its most important values, according to the most important traditions of its past and according to the functioning of its present cultural life,” István Puskás, Deputy Mayor of Debrecen, said.
“We often say that Debrecen is a spiritual centre, and then we always think of the historic churches. This day is not only about historic churches but also about the Christian community, which is a much bigger and broader palette,” Károly Fekete, Bishop of the Reformed Diocese of Tiszántúl, emphasised.
“Praying that this stadium will become a church, a place of worship, a place for the proclamation of the Gospel, not just a place for football,” Baptist pastor Sándor Tóth pointed out.
The programme is free for Transcarpathian Hungarians and Ukrainian citizens, and the organisers will also collect donations at the concert. 17 thousand people are expected to attend the event, and more than 10 thousand tickets have already been sold.
