The municipality of Debrecen provides all assistance to organisations that wish to apply for funding from the Civil, Youth, Cultural and Sports Funds, so that they receive the necessary assistance for their operations and plans. Deputy mayors of the city Diána Széles and István Puskás reported on the details on the 28th of March, 2024 at the headquarters of Debrecen Hajdú Dance Ensemble.

“Debrecen’s civil organisations are very important to the city, so we want to give them all the help we can through the support system, ” as Diána Széles began her presentation. The Deputy Mayor declared that the municipality will announce four different tenders this year, primarily for organisations performing community activities.

More than 1,600 NGOs operate in Debrecen, which gives the city its manifoldness, as they have a very  range of activities. That is why it is important that the city supports NGOs to the best of its ability, either financially or by using city properties free of charge.

The tenders are adapted to practicality and needs, so applications can be submitted for operation, program organisation, wages and the purchase of small-value equipment.

“This year, applications can be submitted again on a simple interface, on website civilpalyazat.debrecen.hu, and the necessary documents must be attached only after the evaluation of the applications, in case of a successful application,” Diána Széles said and who added that only civil organisations based in Debrecen can apply..

Deputy Mayor István Puskás said it is important for the city to be able to help civil organisations, but it is also worth highlighting what kind of civil organisations and communities are being formed, since this institutional system is changing very dynamically, and it is indeed a segment that responds quickly to life and society.

The Deputy Mayor responsible for culture, describing the experiences of the year 2023 said that 90 applications won support, and he encouraged civil organisations to submit as many applications as possible this year as well.

As host, Co-leader of the Debrecen Hajdú Dance Ensemble Zsuzsa Tiszai emphasised that the work of civil organisations is extremely important, as they create value in the life of the city, each in their own area, so this tender opportunity is a great help for everyone. They are also very happy to receive the support, since almost a year ago the city acquired the headquarters of the dance group, which the city then made available to them free of charge. This was important from the point of view, because it opened up other tender opportunities for them, which are supported by the city, since before that the owners had not carried out any development in the place they had been using for decades.

Application deadline: 22 April 22, 2024 at 4.00 p.m.
