Creation is the focus of the new exhibition

Creation is the focus of an exhibition jointly organised by the Debrecen Jewish Cultural and Scientific Research Institute and the Jewish Community, which opened on Thursday at the Pásti Street Orthodox Synagogue.

Works by 14 contemporary artists from Debrecen and those who are connected to the city are on display.

The opening event of the Jewish Cultural Days and Street Festival, which runs until Sunday, 27th of August 2023, was also the opening of the exhibition. Deputy Mayor of Debrecen István Puskás said that the whole series of events sends the message that the Jewish community and Jewish culture in Debrecen are an integral part of the life of the city.

“We mutually enrich each other: Jewish culture is as much Debrecen culture as our traditional Jewish values, and what is very important is that this means not only historical traditions, but also contemporary culture,” the deputy mayor stressed.
