On the 5th of  April, the engineering office of Aero Space Power Ltd. was opened at Debrecen International Airport in the framework of a professional meeting. The meeting was attended by Mayor László Papp and CEO of Xanga Group István Herdon.

Aero Space Power Ltd. provides MRO (maintenance, repair, overhaul) services to the aerospace and energy sectors. In addition to its headquarters in Kisvárda, the company has branches in Budapest and now also in Debrecen.  Aero Space Power is currently the only aircraft engine parts repair facility in the region that is certified by both the European and the US aviation authorities (EASA and FAA).

“Both aviation and the energy sector have significant growth potential. Our goal is to be able to provide our partners with the highest possible value-added services and products. For this, the development of our engineering skills and the recruitment of young novice engineers are essential,” Managing Director Attila Kürthy emphasised.

For nearly two years, Aero Space Power Ltd. has been carrying out welding and special metal alloy repairs for the overhaul plants of the Budapest Liszt Ferenc Airport. The growth of Debrecen International Airport is accompanied by an increase in the number of passengers and an increase in the maintenance needs of the airport.

Aero Space Power Ltd. is one of the first companies to offer its services to the aircraft overhaul companies that will be based here. By opening an engineering office, the range of services available at the Airport Intermodal Logistics Centre will be extended with a new high added value service.

“Once again Debrecen is able to move forward in an area that fills a gap, and aeronautical engineering is a key area for aviation and the operation of an airport,” Mayor László Papp pointed out.

The new aeronautical engineering service will be established in cooperation with the Debrecen-based XANGA group of companies. XANGA is one of the region’s leading industrial real estate development companies. “Taking advantage of this tradition and previous experience, we would like to be able to meet the demand for engineers in cooperation with the university in the long term,” CEO of XANGA Group István Herdon said.

In the framework of the cooperation with the University of Debrecen, three students will start their work. The number is expected to reach ten in the near future.
