Connecting to the Day of Hungarian Culture, the Foundation for the Culture of Debrecen,  consistent with its traditions, presented the Award for the Culture of Debrecen and its creative scholarships on the 22nd of January, 2025, at the Simonffy Hall of the Old Town Hall, 

Established in 1991, the foundation aims to support the cultural and artistic endeavors of individuals, institutions, and groups, promoting the development of cultural relations both domestically and abroad. 

Dr. Mihály Duffek, Emeritus Professor at the University of Debrecen’s Faculty of Music, welcomed this year’s award recipients, emphasising the foundation’s long-standing mission to nurture talent across generations, enriching the city’s cultural landscape with invaluable contributions. 

The Award for the Culture of Debrecen  recognises individuals for their significant contributions to social and natural sciences and the cultural sector. In 2025, the award was presented to artist Zoltán Fátyol and actor Imre Gelányi for their exemplary work in the city’s cultural life.

The Foundation announced a call for applications to support the activities of artists, art professionals, researchers, writers, cultural and traditional groups living in the city and to strengthen their ties with Debrecen.In 2025, five individuals, Emőke P. Szalay, Zoltán Rácz, Zsigmond Géza Dombi, László Parádi and Dr. László Fésüs, and the Debrecen City Protection and Beautification Association received grants.

The Sol Oriens choir, led by conductor Ádám Mike, and Ildikó Sőrés performed on the piano.
