The CEE Business Services Awards is a prestigious ceremony for the business services sector in our broader region, held annually in Warsaw. A conference is organized each year alongside the awards, and Debrecen presented itself this year.
Debrecen is receiving special attention for good reason. After the preliminary evaluation, two cities remain in the competition for the “Emerging City of the Year” award: Debrecen and Kaunas in Lithuania.
The award ceremony will take place on Thursday.
Deputy Mayor Lajos Barcsa also delivered a presentation at the conference. On his Facebook page, he wrote that the “CEE Business Services Summit & Awards Gala 2025” proves that Debrecen is not on Europe’s business map by chance.
“Following the industrial successes of recent years, the flourishing of the service sector may now follow. Several international companies have recognized Debrecen as a potential business services center—and why wouldn’t they? We are full of talented, multilingual young people who must be provided with high-quality job opportunities right here in Debrecen. We cannot allow these young people to leave for their careers elsewhere—this is why it’s fantastic to see our city being referred to at the conference as one of the region’s most promising “service hubs,” he wrote.
The deputy mayor added that they believe Debrecen’s future is not just about industry but also modern office jobs built around young talents.
Through continuous development and workforce expansion, Debrecen has become the second-largest SSC hub in the country. The most significant business service centers (SSCs), such as IT Services Hungary, British Telecom, Emerson | NI, and transcosmos, have made Debrecen the second-largest SSC hub.
