Wine and jazz meet in Debrecen, two of Hungary’s culture’s treasures. 67 wineries and more than 40 jazz bands will welcome you between the 3rd and 6th of August 2023.
Jazz musicians and fine wines – the country’s oldest jazz festival is getting increasingly popular yearly. This year there will be no shortage of musical and gastronomic excitement in the Great Forest.
“There will be specialities such as the Dúzsi red wine, the Greek Word which has been voted one of the best red wines in the world. The recently awarded female winemaker will also be with us, and more than 40 bands will perform on three stages with musical specialties,” Réka Mészáros, managing director of Főnix Rendezevműszervező Kft., said.
All six wine regions of the country and all 22 wine regions will be represented at the must. 67 wineries will be represented, and there will be guided tastings and professional discussions.
“This year, we will focus on young winemakers, and we will also talk about organic viticulture, and there will be an unusual podium discussion, where 4-5 young winemakers will talk to each other about the change of generations and the ideas of young winemakers”, Dániel Korózs, winemaker of Korózsi Vineyard and Winery, emphasised.
More than 40 music groups will provide the atmosphere for the wine specialities. The whole spectrum of jazz will be on stage in August: classical, vocal, mainstream jazz and jazz-rock will entertain the audience.
“The focus this year will be on young bass talent, and my friend Károly Gáspár and I will be accompanied by two great bassists and two great bass guitarists – so I think there is a lot of potential for young people at this festival,” Balázs Bágyi, President of the Hungarian Jazz Association, pointed out.
The Wine and Jazz Days are traditionally held between the Campus Festival and the Flower Carnival. According to the deputy mayor of Debrecen István Puskás, this programme offers quality recreation.
The two high-quality jewels of culture, from gastronomy to wine and from music to jazz, will once again be a rendezvous and will be waiting for the people of Debrecen and, of course, for all visitors, he added.
The Debrecen Wine and Jazz Days will take place between 3rd and 6th of August in Nagyerdő (Great Forest), at Lake Békás.
