On the 11th of May, 2024, the sports and family day called “Veled kerek a világ” will be held. The sport selection event is primarily aimed at preschoolers and elementary school students, where the organisers hope that the little ones will find the most suitable form of exercise for them.
A press conference on the event was held at Hétszínvirág kindergarten. This institution will have a special title of Debrecen’s first Sports Kindergarten from the 1st of September. For almost 20 years, the Hétszínvirág kindergarten has been involved in physical education and movement development. The new training programme is being developed by experts from the Debrecen Sports Centre.
“In addition to the existing sports, skating, swimming and football, children can also get acquainted with other sports, whose basic physical development will be carried out by specialised coaches,” Head of the Institution Erzsébet Szabó said.
The kindergartners of Hétszínvirág will also be part of “Veled kerek a világ” sports and family day, which will be open for the tenth time this year for children who want to get moving.
The event will take place on Saturday on the 11th of May and is open to kindergarteners, first and second grade students. Experts say it’s important to instil a love of movement in young people from as early an age as possible.
“It’s important to start introducing physical activity into children’s lives as soon as possible, so that they can experience how good you can feel for example after swimming or running,” Managing Director of the Debrecen Sportcentrum Ltd. András Becsky emphasised.
The aim of the event is to give children and their parents the opportunity to learn about different sports, so that they can make better choices.
“From an early age, they also want to show the good side of movement, so that children not only encounter it for the first time in PE classes at school, but also to enjoy it as a fun, liberating leisure activity. In addition, it is very important that they do it together with their families, in a community,” Deputy Mayor Diána Széles pointed out.
Almost 25 sports will be on offer for youngsters to try out at “Veled kerek a világ” event in May.
