As of Tuesday, the menetrend.app is also available on iOS devices, where passengers can follow DKV public transport information in real time. The cities of Debrecen and Szeged jointly funded the development to make transport more predictable. The mobile app can be downloaded free of charge.

The real-time passenger information of DKV Zrt. has been further expanded. In addition to Android and Huawei devices, the menetrend.app is now also available on iOS. With 30,000 users in Debrecen so far, the app provides real-time DKV public transport information, among other things.

“I think that in today’s world, it is essential to be able to follow where a vehicle is going. We can see that the city’s roads are getting more and more congested, and there can be delays in the timetable, so passengers can find out exactly when the vehicle they have chosen will arrive at the stop,” Szabolcs Tóth, CEO of DKV Zrt., said.

In the mobile application, stops and departure points can be accessed by GPS, and the routes can be followed on a map in real-time.

Passengers can save their most frequently used stops and connections to their favourites, and once opened, the information they need is immediately available.

“There is a constant need to improve the quality of public transport, and this can be done through a variety of means. The continuous renewal of the fleet is important, but at the same time, using modern 21st-century technical tools, applications can be developed to increase predictability,” Deputy Mayor of Debrecen Lajos Barcsa said.

At the briefing, he said that in the field of digitalisation, innovations such as online ticket and pass purchases, smart stops and Wi-Fi services on vehicles have been introduced. The next step will be the renewal of the DKV Zrt. website. The application, which provides a free service for plannable transport, will be made available, and the company is looking for feedback from users to improve the quality of the service.
