Drinking water will be distributed from Monday to Wednesday.
Given the heat alert, drinking water will be distributed at several locations in the city centre of Debrecen on the 17th (Monday), 18th (Tuesday) and 19th (Wednesday) of July 2023. All three days, refreshing, essential drinking water will be provided at 3 locations.
Due to the rising temperatures in the previous weeks, the water distribution points have already been opened in several locations: in and around the main square – Kossuth Square, near the Reformed Small Church and on Dósa nádor Square.
As in the past years, the city government, in cooperation with the Debrecen Charity Association, distributes drinking water in several places in the city centre.
Drinking water will be distributed between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on the 17th (Monday), 18th (Tuesday) and 19th (Wednesday) of July 2023.
- on Kossuth Square, by the fountain (16 Piac Street),
- at the junction of Kossuth Square and Hatvan Street, opposite the statue of Lőrinc Szabó,
- in the area between the Fórum Debrecen shopping centre (Csapó Street 30.) and the DSZC Chemical Engineering College (DSZC Vegyipari Technikum)
It is essential to leave home with fluids. Young and older people and pets are especially susceptible to dehydration and should all be looked after, so ensure dogs and cats have enough cool drinking water.
In view of the heatwave, the green spaces department of the Debrecen mayor’s office is taking extra care to water public plants at dawn or late at night. It also pays special attention to the proper operation of automatic irrigation systems.
Debrecen is a caring city, and the municipality has organised the distribution of drinking water and installed water gates to make residents feel more comfortable in the heat.
