Why vote for László Papp for Mayor again?

As the municipal elections approach, you have the opportunity to shape the future of your city by electing your local representatives.

The current city government has laid a strong foundation for the continued growth and prosperity of Debrecen through a series of achievements and initiatives to improve public services and quality of life.

Why vote for László Papp for Mayor again?:

    1. Creating stable living: László Papp, the 30th Mayor of Debrecen, was sworn in for a second term in October 2019. If re-elected Mayor for a third time, he will continue his efforts to improve the quality of life of local citizens, and to make Debrecen a safe, happy and environmentally friendly city where it is good to study, work and live.
    2. Growing economy & work opportunities: Hungary’s largest economic development programme was launched under the leadership of László Papp. Debrecen’s industrial sites have increased tenfold, job-creating investments have exceeded HUF 5,000 billion and nearly 20,000 new jobs have been created. Global companies such as Krones and BMW have been attracted to the city.
    3. Focusing on Sustainability and your children’s future: The current city government of Debrecen gives priority to sustainability and sustainable urban planning. This includes the procurement of clean-energy buses and trams, investment in renewable energy projects and solar parks, and the development of parks, cycle paths and pedestrian-friendly areas to improve the city’s liveability and environmental quality.
    4. Ensuring safe transport and accessibility to all parts of the city: One of the notable achievements of the current city government is the comprehensive road renovation program aimed at improving road infrastructure across Debrecen.
    5. Caring City Programs: László Papp and his team have developed a number of initiatives to promote physical activity, ensure access to health services and involve the community. Residents of the city can participate in a number of free fitness classes and preventive screenings. These initiatives are part of the ‘Move Debrecen!’ health initiative, alongside other caring city initiatives.
    6. Expanding urban developments: the most important developments of the last mayoral term were the opening of the International School of Debrecen (ISD), the Aquaticum Strand, which won several international awards, the Sziget-kék Plaground and the Extreme Sports Park (DEBEX).

Thanks to the work and developments of the past two and a half decades, Debrecen has a good chance of becoming the fastest growing city in the country in the next five years. Wages are rising at a rate above the national average, while the country’s most advanced and diversified industrial and economic structure is emerging. Debrecen will become the new economic and business centre of the Central European region. Thanks to economic growth, Debrecen’s own revenues could double in the next five years compared to the current situation, providing much more resources to meet the development needs of its population.
