About the band:

Budapest Bar has become the new home of gypsy music with its poignant and heartwarming covers of one of Hungary’s most popular bands. The magical appeal of the band is based on the excellent musicians and cult singers of Hungarian rock music. Budapest Bar, originally born for a single album, has been operating with twelve singers and a completely unique line-up for 15 years.Perhaps that is why it has become the most sought-after concert band, a regular at festivals and on major stages.

The roots of the unique style, that has become the trademark of Budapest Bar, goes back to the world of cafés of Budapest in the 1920s and 30s. Famous and popular songs based on gypsy music, with elements of jazz, pop, rock, klezmer and many other musical genres and reinterpreted with a variety of music styles. The original intention of the leader and founder of the Budapest Bar, Róbert Farkas, was precisely was to give new impetus to the genre of café gypsy music, keeping it alive and renewing the old traditions.

Thanks to the orchestra, long forgotten melodies have come back into the public consciousness and the culture of young people. Many old songs have been dusted off, forgotten ones revived forgotten ones, given new clothes to well-known ones and, more recently, a number of new songs have been written. Ages, cultures, styles and generations come together in this production, maybe that’s why both young and old love the band, which has become a multi-generational favourite.

The members of the band are Róbert Farkas (violin, guitar), Sándor Ürmös (dulcimer), Károly Ökrös, (Farkas Richárd (double bass), Kisvári Bence (drums).
