The French word “Reverie,” which denotes a dreamy, introspective, or contemplative state, is where the evening gets its name.The programme, which consists of two pieces, transports viewers to the realm of dreams and desires, where the dancers delve into the depths of human existence.

“Liliom” – Drama in two acts with English subtitles – 2 June, 7.00 p.m at Csokonai Theatre
In 1909, Ferenc Molnár chose a poor city-dweller, Liliom, as his protagonist in a folk play. The story explores the moral message of forgiveness, the possibility or impossibility of it, and the eternal validity of sin. The protagonist’s calvary symbolises the interrelatedness of accusation and penance.

Soul – Spinner – Celebrational dance performance in two parts – 4, June 8.30 p.m. at Great Forest Open-Air Stage
The show is made possible by the participation of more than 100 artists, in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Great Forest Open-Air Stage.
On the Day of National Unity, the Debrecen Folk Company and the Debrecen Hajdú Dance Company will open the 2025 summer season in the Great Forest with a two-part celebrational dance performance. Together with Debrecen’s two renowned dance ensembles, the 75th anniversary of the Great Forest Open-Air Stage is celebrated, which first opened its doors on June 10, 1950, with Zoltán Kodály’s Székelyfonó.

William Shakespeare: Richard III. – Guest performance by Szatmárnémeti Északi Theatre Harag György Company with English Subtitles- 11 June, 6.00 p.m. at Latinovits Zoltán Hall
Richard III is the latest installment in a long-running directorial program that includes multiple productions. With live music woven into the dramatic narrative, this staging offers a unique theatrical experience, a true concert show for the audience. This time, world-famous American rock hits from the 1970s resound on stage, with the band’s frontman becoming the singing alter ego of the bloody-handed Richard III.

Szabolcs Mátyássy: Scævola – Giacomo Puccini: Gianni Schicchi with English Subtitles – 11 June, 7.00 p.m., 12 June 6.00 p.m. at Csokonai Theatre
Szabolcs Mátyássy’s opera is set in Europe during the turn of the millennium, based on the ancient legend of Mucius Scaevola. Puccini’s comic opera, Bouso, follows a wealthy Florentine citizen who dies unexpectedly. Rinuccio’s greedy family calls for Gianni Schicchi, who pretends to be the dying man and alters the will for the family’s benefit. Schicchi’s scheme leads to unexpected twists.
